Champney Treasure House (formerly Beverley Treasure House) reopened just a few days ago after a substantial redesign and upgrade. The Library is up and running, the Tourist Information Centre is back there and now the Customer Services and Registry Office are there too, not forgetting the Museum, Art Gallery and cafe. The outside area has been beautifully redesigned and planted; it’s going to be the perfect setting for wedding photos once everything is established. I didn’t notice the location of the Registry Office when inside but I’m assuming it was somewhere down the corridor opposite the main entrance as there was a corresponding exit into the gardens at the back of the building, including an easy access path for wheelchair users. Lots to see and do in the Treasure House including having a coffee and cake in the cafe (10% discount with Library card). Access the upper floor for the cafe , museum and art gallery via stairs at either end of the building or use the lift by the main entrance. Toilets are on the ground floor.

Very disappointing after being closed for a good year for modern renovations. How much was the cost to the public purse?!? The local registry office near Tesco was closed down and shoved into the library end of what was the Reference Section. The grounds ruined with what looks unfinished for wedding parties. Trees were cut down. Criminal in my opinion. There was a lovely small tree with low branches where peiple sat for lunch... gone. The large computer room... gone. Now have a small pod area with a few computers. The ladies public toilet is down to one hand dryer. Ridiculous when queues form to dry hands. Over zealous security staff on toilet duty not liking it if one uses a hand dryer next door in the babies changing room. Also, why close on Sunday and Bank Holidays?!? The building needs to be excessable when people are home from work on a Sunday and kids are off from school. Libraries are open down South on a Sunday. Beverley tries but struggles to step forward and not be provincial. Still 'Little Britain'. It reminds me of the film Jaws with the scene about a senior resident worried about his white picket fence. When there is more to life. Surprised to find some older residents here have not visited our Capital... London or even stepped outside this large county. Beverley residents deserve so much better from those in authority of public spaces... up to speed with what's going on in the rest of the country and not be lagging behind by a generation.

Stumbled upon The Treasure House whilst looking around the very interesting town of Beverley, initially we were drawn to look at the Fabulous Minster and then we went into the coffee shop in the Treasure House which was very good and extremely reasonable, also looked around the art exhibition and various other bits and pieces in there. All in all we spent a very good day in Beverley it was very reasonable to park there for the day, which is always good to know.

Excellent attraction with a vast array of interesting exhibitions and links to the library and art gallery. Will be visiting more often.
