InstaVolt Charging Station

Some post says it's in mcdonalds but it's actually near starbucks. Waze was not specific in it's directions but we managed. 4 chargers on site and no need to use the app, just tap the debit card and it will work. Ccs and chademo connectors are there. Really quick charge and you can just walk to mcdonalds or starbucks to grab a bite. Loved it

We had a problem getting the app to start on no 3, when it failed to start, it said remove charger from car and replace, but did not release the charger, leaving it still saying unavailable, so we moved to no 2, which is a slower charger, but worked fine. Problem: following heavy snow, it was pouring with rain, about 2 inches of wet slush underfoot and no shelter from the rain while we sorted out the charging. Contrast this with a petrol station, where you are filling up under a canopy and so don't get soaked in the process. Because we had the problem with the charger (one which we have used successfully before) our coats and shoes were soaked through by the time we got the charge going, and we were dressed for the weather. This is a common problem with charging stations we've found.

Advertised as 150kw but only got 65kw during last two visits, so better to use MFG at the station next door and walk across for a Starbucks!

1st time using this charger, easy to find but on the maps 1 pair is in the McDonald’s car park and the other pair is in the Starbucks car park, they are both in the Starbucks car park. Parking was easy and lots of space to manoeuvre. I used the app to start my charge and no issues (good 4G coverage). The charger was pulling 42kw so fast charge. Only con is the cost of charge at 0.66p per kW it’s expensive, but have yet to find an InstaVolt charger off line compared with other suppliers. As this charger was my 3rd choice, as others were off line or had connecter issues, Keep up good work and installing them everywhere.

I rarely give anything five stars but InstaVolt really deserve them. Excellent location, right next to Starbucks (dog friendly) easy access and always work. Well worth a stop. There’s a McDonald’s next door too. We were heading to Monks Cross but York Councils charging services are still offline ( a whole year behind ) leaving a few dodgy 7kw chargers near Costa Coffee, sometimes they work but mainly they don’t do this is the best place for a break before the next InstaVolt chargers outside of Scarborough.
