It's a 25-minute drive away, so it means we didn't have to wake up early on a grey and cold wintery Saturday. It's a very pretty place, with friendly people, a separate toilet for people with disability, baby-changing facility, public toilets, store, a café and Oakwell Hall itself really makes life in the 17th century very tangible (people didn't use forks then and searvants got a pear for Christmas). I was especially impressed by the gorgeous hand-made glass windows. When we walked out of the Hall we saw people wore wellies. Then we started our walk and understood why. It was a muddy day. But... we met a gigantic sheep and enjoyed all the green!
We enjoyed walking round the country park with my mum's 12 year old Golden Retriever. It was a lovely morning and it was great to see lots of people and dogs enjoying themselves. I now have my own dog, and we go around Oakwell almost daily. It is a wonderful place to walk, with a variety of different walks.
Great play area for kids and a nice walk through the woods with a field in the middle. Will be good for walking dogs! There's also a little refreshment hut with a good selection of ice cream flavours!
Stunning place. Natural beauty, peaceful with good toilet facilities. Cafe, small visitor attraction and souvenir shop. The actual Hall is beautiful and enables you to step back in time, gorgeous gardens and country park walks.
Great place to go for an hour or so's walk. Friendly walkers and dogs. The Hall is worth a visit. Not expensive to go in. Cafes and free toilets at both car parks. Gift shop near the hall. Children's play area by bottom car park. Accessible tarmac path from the bottom to the top- bit of a climb if you are pushing a wheelchair or buggy. Plenty of places to picnic.
