Canal Garage

Stopped for diesel in the narrowboat. Good price but a bit difficult to get moored up when You're single handed but managed with the help of the young lady who served me. She was helpful and friendly. They also sell 13kg calor gas bottles but it's not on the list shown in the side of the garage. Great to have a garage right next to the services. Pleasant mooring across the cut with reasonably easy access. Just watch the water levels if the rain starts.

One word; Brilliant!!! I’m in the area for work and noticed my brakes were grinding. With a 250 mile drive home on Sunday, this was concerning and needed to be sorted before I left. This garage offered to take my van in this morning (Friday) and replace the brakes whilst I was at work and even offered to drive me to work from the garage so I didn’t have to get a taxi. The work appears to have been done perfectly, no greasy hand marks on the van either! Based on my experience today, I’d have no hesitation in recommending Canal Garage for anyone in the area looked for a trusted garage to carry out their repair works.

Would not recommend this garage. The manager (Malcolm) is an extremely arrogant and dismissive man. Explained on the ‘phone that the car had passed the MOT with only some advisories. Arrived to find out it had in fact failed. Obviously this isn’t a per se problem, but I attempted to explain that I had been told over the phone that it had passed (hence I was a bit bemused). Malcolm glared and said ‘it was me and I know what I said lad’. Two mechanics stood and laughed at the door as I left. I would not recommend dealing with arrogant and rude people Edit: The response below is appalling. I know what happened and I won’t be gaslit. - ‘a misunderstanding on the ‘phone’, I.e, you erroneously told me it had passed when it had not, and did not have the grace to apologise and admit you got it wrong. A simple ‘sorry we got that wrong on the ‘phone here’s how we’ll deal with it’ would have gone a long way to dealing with this and avoiding this review. In reality, I was naive to agree to settle the bill before going to speak to the arrogant owner. - the details of the Ripon garage were given over the phone, when I was told it was a pass but it was suggested I change the rear plate, these were not given to me in the garage. There was never any mention of the garage fitting the part for free or issuing a new certificate. The exchange was as written above. - you should seriously reconsider the manner in which you deal with customers and your levels of professionalism.

Absolutley great. I had never used them before as I'm relatively new to the area. I am a new driver and had a flat battery because of my own stupidity. They came to me and sorted it straight away, without any issues and definitley no over charging!! They definitely saved me that day!
