I often go to this location which at times can be busy, especially week day lunch times. This is because it has a car park making it very handy to just turn up, sit and enjoy your meal with some nice relaxing views. There are various picnic tables which also seem to get some good use at any time. The area is generally well kept and although a lot of dog walkers use the location, I am pleased to say that it's very rare to find dog mess. All in all, a nice spot to stop awhile and take a break. Update August 2025: A lot of work has recently been completed (and a little still ongoing) both to the car park and picnic areas. It has definitely enhanced both areas with added flower beds, benches and safety barriers between the parking area and the river. There are plenty of bins for rubbish and dog pooh! The whole area is well maintained and as popular as ever.
Wonderful stream and view, but can’t pass some paths because of downed trees. Butterflies and herons are commonly seen, for salmon, you have to wait for suitable seasons.
Nice views from the car park and you can walk along the river/canal or go into Boroughbridge, nice day out.
Lovely place to sit down and enjoy the weir rushing past
Nice place to have a bite to eat and a bongo
