<p><strong>Agile Delivery Lead / Release Train Engineer (RTE)</strong></p> <p><strong>Contract:</strong> Initial 3 months <br /><strong>Day Rate: </strong>(Inside IR35)<br /><strong>Location:</strong> Hybrid - 2 days/week onsite across Leeds / occasional Bradford<br /><strong>Start:</strong> Immediate or near-term</p> <strong>Overview</strong> <p>We are looking for an experienced <strong>Agile Delivery Lead / Release Train Engineer (RTE)</strong> to support an app delivery function undergoing structural transition. This is a hands-on role requiring someone who has successfully improved delivery effectiveness in complex, multi-squad engineering environments.</p> <p>The team consists of 90 FTE across three squads (with a fourth forming), currently shifting away from a federated model to a more integrated structure. Delivery foundations exist but require greater consistency, predictability, and flow.</p> <p>This role is ideal for someone who can operate at pace, introduce structure without unnecessary bureaucracy, and work closely with engineering, delivery, and business stakeholders.</p> <strong>Key Responsibilities</strong><strong>Establish &amp; Improve Delivery Flow</strong> <ul> <li>Implement consistent flow from <strong>idea build release</strong>.</li><li>Increase cadence, predictability, and transparency across all squads.</li><li>Ensure delivery roadmaps and release plans are clear, reliable, and understood.</li></ul> <strong>Embed Agile &amp; Scaled Delivery Practices</strong> <ul> <li>Lead and embed <strong>PI Planning</strong>, cross-squad planning, and transitional planning activities.</li><li>Standardise ways of working: stand-ups, retrospectives, showcases, planning sessions.</li><li>Introduce lightweight but effective delivery frameworks and rituals.</li></ul> <strong>Dependency &amp; Risk Management</strong> <ul> <li>Identify, manage, and unblock cross-squad dependencies.</li><li>Improve communication loops between Delivery Leads, Engineering Managers, and Programme Manager.</li></ul> <strong>Capability Uplift</strong> <ul> <li>Mentor and coach delivery teams and engineering teams in agile delivery best practice.</li><li>Support uplift of Scrum Master capability (including identifying gaps and proposing solutions).</li><li>Leave behind clear artefacts, templates, processes, and knowledge transfer.</li></ul> <strong>Environment &amp; Stakeholders</strong> <ul> <li>Working alongside an established <strong>Programme Manager</strong></li><li>Collaborating with Delivery Leads, Engineering Managers, and Product people.</li><li>Operating across a transitioning engineering structure (FE/BE/UX/Test previously federated).</li><li>Strong stakeholder engagement required across both delivery and the wider business.</li></ul> <strong>Experience Required</strong> <ul> <li>Significant experience as an <strong>Agile Delivery Lead, RTE, or Senior Scrum Master</strong> in multi-squad environments.</li><li>Proven track record of stabilising or restructuring delivery functions.</li><li>Experience operating within scaled agile environments (SAFe desirable but not essential).</li><li>Ability to implement planning rituals, sequencing, dependency management, and delivery frameworks.</li><li>Strong coaching mindset, able to uplift teams and embed lasting ways of working.</li><li>Comfortable working at pace, bringing clarity and structure without overcomplication.</li><li>Experience in hybrid engineering environments with cross-functional squads.</li></ul>
