Views across town to the Norman castle and just a few minutes walk from the market place, shops, restaurants, theatre, museums, cinema and swimming pool.

A wildflower meadow behind the cottage is grazed by sheep and lambs in spring. Woodland and riverside walks are 5 minutes down the road, and there are other walks straight from the cottage.

This pretty, south-facing cottage has been beautifully renovated and decorated by its owners and is an ideal place to stay for a holiday or short break. It has an enviable position in both town and country and sits at the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. 

Most of the rooms face south over the garden to the castle and Billy Banks Woods.

The well-equipped kitchen has electric cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher. Washing-machine and additional freezer space in external store at entrance to cottage.

The lounge/dining room has French windows to the private garden and is equipped with a flat screen, digital television and DVD player, sofas, games, jigsaws, books and dining table.

The cottage accommodates 6 in 3 bedrooms - a master double with en-suite bathroom, a second double and a twin room, all of which have comfy beds and mattresses, snuggly duvets and crisp cotton bedlinen, which is included in the rental price, as are fluffy white towels and bathmats. The first floor bathroom is adjacent to the bedrooms and has bath and separate shower. There is a third wc and washbasin downstairs. 

A covered stone flagged passage leads out to the private lawned garden, where flowers, roses, herbs and apple trees grow. Just the place to chat over supper after a day's sightseeing, relax with a drink and a book under the weeping willow or take a leisurely lunch al fresco at the garden table.

The passage has room for bikes, boots and coats, pushchairs and paraphernalia! 

Dogs are welcome at no extra cost.
