Absolutely beautiful pub, friendly staff and locals
It's a really great pub. I stayed nearby and saw this place and gave a visit. Very friendly staff and people who made friendly conversation when I entered. Very reasonable pints and great selection. Highly recommended if you're in the area.
Lovely place friendly staff had my nephew's 18th birthday party great atmosphere
First time visiting in a while . Was very busy. (sat. night) Nice atmosphere in general, friendly staff good karaoke. However, first time meeting new landlady, and question is she in the right job really . She was swearing at customers at the end of the night . When i asked are you the landlady, as in i haven't met you before, she was quite agressive. She took it as an insult, saying would i be talking like this (ie swearing) and why just cos im dressed like this... Which wasnt what i meant at all, was just saying hello, havent met before. I know working in a pub is stressfull etc but dont be rude when no need.
The Black Lion is a friendly pub and will gladly host your birthday party or something else. The pricing is fair, it is able to accommodate a sizeable private gathering in its function room and at the same time cater to local revellers. The let-down were the toilets. The gents seemed out of use and the ladies toilets not great at all. Outdoor facilties come summer will prove popular. Roadside parking adds to the few spaces in front of the pub. The staff are friendly and helpful.
