We’re ambulance drivers and stopped in at Fish and Chips at 149 in Bridlington for our dinner, and it was honestly one of the nicest experiences we’ve had on shift. Carol on the till was incredibly kind and welcoming — she even let us use her own discount, on top of the shop offering a Blue Light discount, which we really appreciated. It’s not often you come across that level of thoughtfulnessx. Laura, the chef, was just as friendly and made us feel genuinely valued and appreciated while we waited. The whole place had a warm, positive atmosphere, and the food was spot-on — exactly what we needed. Highly recommend this place for great fish and chips and even better people. We’ll definitely be back!
Friendly staff, good quality fish and one of the best fish and chips I've had in bridlington, it is a good distance from the beach and took as 30-45 mimutes to walk there, but in summer with the sun this wasn't an issue.
Absolutely delicious. Proper mushy peas, fresh fish & perfectly cooked chips. Staff were really efficient & friendly too. I got a kids fish strips meal due to my small appetite & there was mountains of it.
Review of 149 Fish and Chip Shop - A Gluten-Free Delight! Jess Carole and Laura If you’re looking for a gluten-free fish and chips experience that doesn’t compromise on flavour or safety, 149 Fish and Chip Shop is a must-visit. From the moment I stepped in, I was impressed by how much care went into both the cleanliness of the establishment and the preparation of the food. Care and Cleanliness: The shop was spotless, with a welcoming and organized atmosphere. The staff was visibly attentive to hygiene, ensuring everything from the utensils to the countertops were clean and sanitized. It's clear that they take food safety seriously, especially when it comes to accommodating those with food allergies or sensitivities. Gluten-Free Fish and Chips: As someone who’s sensitive to gluten, it’s not always easy to find a place that gets it right, but 149 Fish and Chip Shop nailed it. The gluten-free batter was crispy and light, with just the right amount of seasoning to bring out the fish’s natural flavours. What stood out the most was the attention to detail—they use separate fryers to ensure there’s no cross-contamination with gluten-filled items. It made me feel really confident in their commitment to providing a safe and delicious meal. The chips were perfectly cooked—crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, just as they should be. And despite being gluten-free, the whole meal felt indulgent without that heavy or greasy feeling that can sometimes come with gluten-free options. Conclusion: For anyone who needs or prefers gluten-free meals, 149 Fish and Chip Shop is a true gem. Their commitment to both quality food and cleanliness really makes them stand out. I’ll definitely be returning for more!
I go to 149 for my gluten free chips and a battered sausage, every time it’s perfect and as a coeliac I have to be very careful and I have never had any issues when I go here. It’s so lovely to be able to have a chippy which caters as there’s not many in Bridlington that do. I could only wish for a gluten free curry sauce but beggars can’t be choosers!! Over all perfect place for a chippy, normal or gluten free I highly recommend.
