Northside Plumbing & Heating

All I can say is that this company stepped in when several other companies had let me down to do a first class service and after a leak in my bathroom led to me having to leave my house for months - Johnny and team stepped in and did the job. I was used to being let down by several companies but when Johnny said his team would be there they were - travelling in winter from Bridlington to York. He did not overcharge me and increased my well being immensely. I wanted to be back in my house before Christmas and I was. Nigel was superb as was the rest of the team including their fab colleague MJW Plastering. As a teacher I am used to Ofsted school inspections and I can see the company has had mixed reviews but I can only praise them for their reliability,efficiency and care of the customer. Five stars!

I had Johnny from Northside come to assess an issue with my boiler leaking, I had been advised that a leak I had was not with my boiler originally but with some pipework and when I mentioned to Johnny that I needed the leak resolving, he advised to remove all my old pipework form the boiler, and install new pipework, I was also informed I needed some addition work regarding the gas pipe not being to the correct standard and I requested some addition work as well. The work provided was to an acceptable standard and I have no issues with what was performed, the work was taken and completed quickly and I was happy with the rapid response, however once completed and his guys left I found that the leak was still ongoing, I called them back and one of Johnnys, Nige, plumbers diagnosed within 5 minutes the leak was within my boiler and they told me I had to speak with the manufacturer as they would not perform the work required to stop the leak, which is what I originally contracted them out for. So I was left with a large amount of new pipework installed that was not actually required because Johnny was unable to or unwilling to actually assess and diagnose the issue at hand, he was more interesting in removing pipework that was tucked away in my wall originally and fit a range of new pipework exposed in my kitchen instead of having a quick check to find the actual source like his plumber was apparently able to do. I felt the job was taken on quickly for the money without any actual technical skill taken to check if it was required. During the work I was advised that apparently the work, which was recommended by Johnny, was a bigger job then they expected and he attempted to increase my quote by 10%, baring in mind the work being harder was the work that WASN’T required because the pipework in question was not actually leaking in the first place. When I tried to speak with Johnny regarding this after the fact, he became offensive over the phone, repeatedly telling me that I was ‘a silly man’ and that I was ‘pathetic’ saying that I was unprofessional, when I kept calm throughout the call and it was johnny that was resorting to name calling. I would like to say that the plumbers that came to do the work were lovely and I have no issues with them, they did the work as requested and got a lot of work done quickly, I was especially impressed they were able to diagnose the actual cause of the leak within 5 minutes of taking the side off the boiler and actually having a look, which is more then I can say about Johnny and his diagnostic abilities. If you contract out Northside, please understand that while the work performed should be well executed, make sure the work quoted is actually required and Johnny has performed is due diligence in investigating the issue at hand.

Had northside out 2 times for leak under sink first time just smothered silicon around it 2nd time removed part and put back but still leaked rang and arranged for them to come back out and said early morning and didn't turn up till nearly 5pm.i werent in .I rang another company and they replaced the worn part and not had leak since

Had a frozen condenser pipe so no heating or hot water, temp was -1 .Phoned them and a great lad called Nigel came out within 20 mins, sorted it out and serviced the boiler as well, excellent service.

Very poor communication, been chasing to arrange a landlord certificate and still no response after trying for 3 weeks. they insist on money 1st then service after but the service is shocking and doesn't warrant paying upfront . Don't bother using this company!!
