Courteous service and fast responses to queries. If the accountant doesn't know the answer, they will find out and get back to you. Prices have risen by 20% over the last 4 years, but this is not unexpected. However, as a small business/sole trader I would have liked my accountant to be *proactive* in recommending how to reduce my tax bill. I have had to look up, for instance, how to claim for use of my home. I was on the standard £10 for home use, turns out I can actually claim a large proportion of my utilities as tax deductible. This sort of proactivity, instead of assuming the £10 allowance will do, would save me considerable money - although it is more time consuming for the accounting staff to do. There have been several instances of this over the years - and I am still finding out from other businesses who have been told by their accountant that they can do this or that. If the owners are reading the reviews, this is the sort of thing that would get 5 star reviews.
