We had an event at the Piece Hall in Halifax. We stopped at this campsite and it was perfect for the one night we stayed. It has electric hook up and toilets (no showers). The owner was very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. He even helped us with a paving slab to put our disposable BBQ on. He gave us all the information of local takeaways etc and the bus stop to Halifax was just a 5 minute walk away. It took 10 minutes to Halifax centre by bus. If I come to the Piece Hall again I would definitely book here again. One last note the pub is right next door! (Seperate business). Thank you!
Friendly handy stop over! Great ale and lovely pitch. Helpful advice for getting into Halifax... And cheap!! Also lovely floof ball of a cat ❣️
We were visiting the caravan site this Sunday to determine whether it would be suitable for layovers for our son with it being so close to a pub. Unbeknownst to us there was actually some great live music on at the pub, so we stuck around to have a listen. What we witnessed while there was absolutely shocking. 3 very young (toddler age and a little older) children were playing around with a football in the car park next to the caravan site on the other side of the fence. This appears to be a family friendly pub and honestly it was great to see kids being kids and not glued to screens for once. One of the young boys accidentally bounced the ball over the fence into the campsite. It was nowhere near any caravans or any cars it landed on a patch of grass. A man watching the band opened the gate and went to retrieve the ball. All of a sudden a woman (who I know understand to be the owner of the site) came storming out of a little chalet. She proceeded to get right in the man’s face and scream absolute murder at him about the ball and the kids. She used vile language and was extremely aggressive. She described the very young children as awful brats. In front of their parents. They were not brats they were happily playing polite small children. Some of the children looked visibly scared. The man she was screaming at did incredibly well to keep his cool since she was literally inches from his face. My husband I were shocked. She screamed at the entire pub crowd that ‘this is a car park and not a playground!’ But in the context of what was happening with the live music outside it was actually the only area for families to congregate and watch. I’m unsure of whether this lady will see this post. If she does I think she should be ashamed of herself. I wonder if all the guests who frequent the site know of her quite clear hatred for children. My husband and I would like to remind the lady that she (unbelievably I know) was once a child. And that the sound of innocent children laughing is a sound we are sadly missing more and more from our neighbourhoods. She should also see about taking down the sign on the gate which says ‘friendly site’. Disgraceful un-empathetic behaviour and needless to say I will not be enquiring about booking our caravan in for a night or two!
Fantastic site! Came here as we wanted to visit Shibden hall which is just down the road. The site is small (6 campers here when we visited) and has electric hook-ups which for £14 per night is great value). The site shares its outside toilets (no showers) with the attached pub/bar (Cock of the North) which is very cosy and brews its own beer which is great! The toilets are clean and well stocked with loo paper (very important!!) Will definitely visit again, the owners are lovely, the site is in a great location and as a bonus you get your own real ale pub attached, what more could you ask for?
Very disappointed. Visited twice in earlier years and nothing has changed except trees taken down and fence erected. Building site on other side for 80 houses. Noise was from 7.45 all day. Following heavy rain the site was water logged and difficult to manoeuvre van. There are no hard stands. Also price was increased on 1st October although booking was made in early September. £18 per night is expensive for the condition of the site. We have visited other sites that are in better condition for less cost. Will not return.
