We have been taking our children to Let's Play at Brough Methodist Church for around 2 years and have always received a very warm welcome by Karen and the team. There are lots of activities for all age groups and well organised fun for the children. Karen is always on hand to help out if needed and always says the right thing to make you feel better on a bad day! The coffee morning on a Saturday always has a good range of cakes and biscuits for the kids and the adults and friendly volunteers making a cracking cup of tea. We have missed the group due to covid and hope it can restart at some point soon. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great group for their little ones.
I have always found Brough Methodist Church a warm and friendly environment. I often take my little boy to Brough ‘Let’s Play’ playgroup, where he is able to socialise and engage with other children. Karen, who runs the group, is amazing and is always friendly and supportive. There is usually a few people enjoying some lovely cake and a drink in the cafe, who always make an effort to speak to myself and my little boy. The cake is always fab as well! Overall, a wonderful and inviting church.
Our son and daughter have attended Let's Play both on a Tues morning and a Saturday am adhoc. Both myself and my husband have been very warmly welcomed to the group by Karen and the team. Since the group has been led and managed by Karen it has gone from strength to strength. During lockdown Karen has gone to amazing efforts of keeping connected with the children and their families throughout the whole period and beyond. This is nothing but admirable and I would like to thank Karen and the team for showing such care and compassion to all. Karen has fabulous insight and understanding of child development and is excellent at supporting parents and able to pick up on when a parent might not be their usual self. We are missing coming along at the moment but hope that we will be there in person again in the near future. The church has also been supportive of important local issues regarding traffic safety. I have been to Brough "lets Play" so many times with my little girl Ella, 2. Before the corona virus came about i used to meet up with some of the mums there every tues morning at the church, including tiffany, tara and kayleigh who would all bring their little ones. I cannot thank Karen, the organiser of the playgroups, enough - not only for running the "lets play" in Brough and the Thursday playgroup in south cave - "Jolly Tots" - and providing a fun and interactive place for my daughter to grow and learn... but for being a friend to me when i was at a very low time in my life. I never got the chance to say thank you for being there for me. Also - i met two of my best friends thanks to Karen running these groups - my little girl now has play dates thanks to friends ive met there. Ive met some wonderful mums i can't wait til this is all over and the groups start up again. We miss you Karen and thank you for all the incredible work you do for the church community - and also for us mums who attend and absolutely love your groups ... Also thank you for your online Storytime and Songtime that you do every single day online. Such a selfless and huge commitment yo make people happy 🥰 You really are one of the loveliest people i know and we miss you ❤️ can't wait to see you again very soon xxx
I have attended 'lets play' playgroup numerous times with my granddaughter at this venue. I have always felt welcomed and included. Karen who runs the playgroup is friendly and very clever at getting the children involved in all the activities available there. Karen is a little gem and very good at her job. The place is clean and there are an abundance of toys to play with. You never feel isolated in the playgroup area. The only clicky episode ( only one in all the time I have been) happened at the Saturday coffee morning when I was made to feel bad about buying a slice of cake ( that I presume the lady was hoarding for a more special member). It was the ONLY time I notice a divide. That little incident has not put me off and I would definitely return and I would encourage mums, dads and grandparents to give it a try. The children love it there.
