Really lovely environment for a walk and something to eat. The water was beautiful, even on a cold morning, the kids loved the goats and ponies next door and the cafe itself is warm and nicely decorated, staff were friendly, hot drinks (tea and coffee) were very nice and food delicious. Between us, we tried a sausage sandwich, quiche and Victoria Sponge cake and all was fresh and delicious. The wait for food to be cooked was a little while but not unreasonable and was the only negative at all. There are toilets but you find through a door to next door in the sailing club.
We arrived at a busy cafe with everyone happily eating, drinking and chatting away, to a cheery ‘hello’ from at least two members of staff. Our table was clean, we were served quickly and efficiently and thoroughly enjoyed our tea and cake (delicious!). The ground outside was frozen but the warm welcome and friendly atmosphere was very welcome. Certainly somewhere to revisit!
Having read reviews and found out how to find the place we took the dog walking around the amazing location , and because our little dog is too fussy we decided to sit outside in the frost and admire the beautiful views at across the water and order a coffee and a hot chocolate, it came in 10 mins , great , however the cardboard cups were smallest I have seen apart from free cups at cinemas , but the coffee was tepid, barley tasting of coffee at all! The same was for the hot chocolate, not hot , no chocolate taste just very sweet sucky tepid milky drink with marshmallow topping. The shock was we paid over £9 !!! Very disappointed , although I, m sure the food and service is good , the location perfect , the cost for simple hot drinks definitely did leave a bad tasty taste, a real shame.
Jess and her team at Calm Waters Cafè are absolutely wonderful and well worth a visit. The location, friendliness of staff and delicious food are second to none. Jess also allowed me to set up a table to resell raffle tickets for a weekend sailing of 55ft yacht for 2 people to raise funds for my chronically ill daughter. I’ll be forever grateful for your kindness x
We had a delightful day here today at Calm Waters Cafe and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. A lovely setting and tasty brunch.
