Stopped overnight in my campervan, it was quiet and very tidy. You will need levellers for the car park, which i large. If you do intend stopping overnight please park away from the main mart as room is required for lorries to turn if there is a mart on. Hawes centre is 5 mins walk and there are walks up into the countryside. Dogs are allowed but keep them on a lead. There was CPD( near the toilets ) 24hr toilets (no chemical waste please) and a fresh water tap is on the side of the main mart, left of the office. On mart days there is a cafè on site. £15 per night please put you cash in the honesty box, i used one of my envelopes for this and put my reg on the front. We travel for four months of the year around Scotland, Northumberland, Cumbria and the Yorkshire dale. We must say Hawes Farmers' Auction Mart was good value for money. There was an on site vets when we were there in the porta Cabin, they are there most days a some evenings.
Bit of an odd tourist attraction. But if you're in Hawes on a Tuesday and have never experienced a livestock auction, go. It'll help you appreciate how hard hill sheep farmers work for low returns. Luckely my wife is an ex-live stock farmer (pigs & cows) so I had my own personal guide. The animals, both waiting to enter the ring and those sold, were penned to the highest standard. We saw no distressed animals. The cafe, it's the perfect greasy spoon. It's billy basic but food is great, staff friendly and the local clientele welcoming. As I said; odd visitor attraction but a must if you want to teach children where our food comes from and or educate yourself.
Very quiet overnight, Farmer start arriving about 7.30. area is quite slopey in places but it's a very large parking area. 10 min walk into town. £15/night via honesty box. Toilet and elsan point available. No ehu and didn't see any grey waste or fresh water point
Delightful bathroom, a welcome refuge for a weary traveller. Just on the back of the honest box. Thank you to those who keep this going and let's keep filling their honest box. Saw 3 other campers here
Stayed two great quiet nights in our motorhome. We shall be back. Toilets 24-7. Fresh water tap and somewhere to empty our loo.
