The last time I was in the Carlton pub was about 15 years ago. The ale was excellent as was the landlord and the staff. There wasn't many people in when I ventured in, but there was something on one of the walls where all the old photos were hanging about the Brown Baileys Steam Wagon and where it finished up. I know where it is the steam wagon it is on show in the Glasgow Transport Museum because I photographed it. The Carlton is a nice wee pub the people are very friendly and they make you most welcome. I think it use to be a real ale place but can't be sure. My memory is not as good as it use to be. If I ever get back to Sheffield this will be the first pub I shall go in.
What a great old school pub. I was in town for 1 night and was made to feel like a regular. The locals were very friendly. The prices very reasonable. James the landlord is an absolute star and should be awarded for the way he runs a pub. I had such a laugh, so much so that I'm definitely coming back even though it's out of my way. I'll book into a hotel to come again Seriously 1 of the best pubs I've ever been in.
Very good pub sadly not many left.
Wanted to come here for a while.. Today was the first ever visit & I cant fault the place. Great chilled atmosphere & friendly landlords. Loved the sheffield history theme! I'll sure be back soon!
Adore this place, always been very welcoming. Landlords both amazing, even when they have to deal with people who don't listen to them when they tell them they can come in even though it's a members bar. There's another members bar in the area, but they charge for entry, and the beer's more expensive, but that's maybe what certain people prefer?
