B&Q Glasshoughton

It's a big B&Q with a huge (free) car park and a great burger van. Typical of B&Q it's got a large range of products at really good prices - but check availability online first before you take a trip. Staff here are always very friendly and knowledgeable.

Went to B&Q Castleford on Saturday 17/01/26 and decided to try the paint mixing service they offer as we had found a colour we liked but wasn’t keen on the quality or price tag and this service was recommended to us by a family member that’s in the trade business. We were met by Lee who provided us with exceptional customer service throughout - he was friendly, cheerful and very knowledgable about all the products. He didn’t try to upsell you with anything and just gave his honest opinion about products he had also used himself. We got our tester home and I went back in today 19/01/26 to buy 3 big tubs of the paint as we loved the colour and quality. I was happy to see Lee was there again and once again provided amazing customer experience. He got me to download the B&Q app and sign up so I got a £5 voucher - if he hadn’t of shown me all the boxes I needed to fill out though I wouldn’t have got the voucher as you have to do more than just make an account (have to set your preferences and fill out personal info). He’s a credit to your team, I found everyone friendly and helpful who I came across but Lee really showed exceptional service - hence why I want to leave a positive review for him and your store. Thank you again.

If every store had a Scott, shopping would be a dream. I do not usually write reviews this long, but credit where it is due. Scott at B&Q Glasshoughton is honestly one of the most helpful, genuine, and all-round decent members of staff I have ever come across in any store. Every single visit, without fail, he goes above and beyond to make sure you get what you need, no matter how busy he is or how awkward your question might be. He is not just helpful in the usual retail sense. Scott actually cares. You can tell from the way he takes the time to listen properly, asks what you are working on, and then helps you find the best solution instead of just pointing you down an aisle and walking off. He will check stock, look for alternatives, and even give practical advice on how to get the job done right. Whether you are a tradesperson, a DIY beginner, or someone wandering around confused while holding a random screw you found at home, he treats everyone with the same patience and respect. What really stands out is how approachable and down-to-earth he is. Scott has that perfect balance of professionalism and friendliness. He is the kind of person you actually want to deal with. You can tell he knows the store inside out, and he is always willing to go the extra mile to make sure you leave with the right gear, a bit more confidence, and a smile on your face. I have visited a lot of B&Q stores over the years, but this one is easily the best purely because of the service that Scott provides. I have seen him helping other customers too. He is never flustered, never rushing, and always calm while getting everyone sorted like it is no big deal. That attitude makes a massive difference and gives the whole store a better atmosphere. He is honestly the reason I keep returning to this branch instead of ordering online. When you have someone who genuinely cares about doing their job well, it restores your faith in good customer service. So, a massive thank you to Scott. B&Q was okay inside, good selection of products and had exactly what I needed, however it has taken me over an hour just to leave the car park, surely there has to be a better system than this? Would of been quicker to walk home honestly but I had lots timber I needed to transport, queuing time like this to leave really puts me off coming back to this particular B&Q especially when there's jobs to do, wanted to notify other shoppers avoid avoid avoid here during particularly busy hours (Saturdays 12-4PM)

We had a poor experience with the lady working the returns till who had a rude manner and no desire to help us resolve our query. We would have left with a sour taste if not for Courtney at the collection desk who went out of her way to help us process our return, we were able to return anything with no issues at all, despite what the first member of staff us.
