Another lovely winter walk we did. I like winter walks as you see much more of the surroundings than in the summer. A pleasant walk. There was not much left to see in the mill, but do stay and have a beverage. Not one of NTs best, but at least it's still standing.
Excellent 2 bed 2 storey home away from home. All you need catered for, dog friendly, lovely touches on arrival. Walk upon walk from your doorstep. Hebden itself a 20 minute walk. Train has great links for surrounding towns. Recommend Harrogate and York as day trips. This holiday home is a gem.
A lovely [challenging at times] walk through woods, boulders, crags and along the river and a couple of waterfalls surprised us along the way. If you take the red route there's lots of tricky natural steps and narrow paths. There is a flat route from the main carpark to the mill which is along the road but all the other routes are through rocky woods. The bluebells will be out soon and it'll look beautiful. There is a disabled carpark down the flat road I mentioned, which takes you to the mill. As we visited midweek, we couldn't visit inside the mill or cafe but apparently it's open weekends (check website to be sure). The bathroom facilities were open. Disabled toilets are available there too.
Warm welcome from the owners. Nothing too much trouble when called on. The cottage was very warm and cosy, with everything you could possibly want, home from home. location was excellent for walking our 2 dogs, they loved it as much as we did. The footpaths were a 2 minute walk in quite a few directions, pubs close by and a tearoom in the national trust crags woodland close by. Shops and other amenities within walking distance too, but at the same time the cottage is down a very quiet lane where on an evening you can hear a pin drop. Thankyou for the 'Yorkshire' treats you left on arrival, and the tea & milk for a well needed cuppa on arrival ! We will recommend to our friends and family, just a perfect place to stay! & Dog friendly
Beautiful walk here and nice little cafe at the end to stop and have a drink/icecream. Will struggle for parking later on in the day so I suggest you get there early!
