A pit stop from a drive along the motorway led us to this wonderful chippy. As we pulled into the small, dedicated car park at the front of the shop, we could smell the lovely beef dripping. On entering, it was immediately clear that the staff were proud of what they do. The shop was spotlessly clean and tidy, and the polite, friendly team were smartly dressed. I ordered the regular haddock and chips with scraps, and the fish was plump and delicious, coated in a tasty, crispy batter. The chips were thick and full of flavour. I also ordered the Special fish, which was a large haddock. Now then, the presentation looked like a fox had been at it, and I was a little disappointed at first glance. However, once I started to dismantle it, it proved to be incredibly tasty, with huge flakes of light, crispy batter. The haddock itself was thick, fresh, and subtly flavoured. The mushy peas were not as thick as I would have liked, but they were tasty and did the job. The fishcake was plump and tasty, with the potato slices on either side cooked to the perfect tenderness. Overall, if you are anywhere nearby or travelling along the motorway and in need of a pit stop, this one is well worth calling in off Junction 26 on the M62 for. 🟠 Cooking in: Beef Dripping 🟠 Payment: Cash or Card 🟠 Fish Reviewed: Haddock 🎥 See the full video review on The Chippy Tour YouTube channel
First time ordering from here, it arrived quickly and piping hot so no complaints from there. I was a bit disappointed with the portion size (both the chips and the fish), it was also lacking any real flavour. Lastly the fish was really greasy, definitely had better from other local chippies at a cheaper price with better quality. Probably won’t order from here again.
Simple the Best Fish Butty I have ever had. A good size quality Fish on a large oval Bread Roll.... and good value at £4.95
The fish was cooked well and taste ok but the portion size of the chips was disappointing.
I ordered a medium fish and chips, the same as the person in front of me. The fish they gave me was literally half the size the one they gave to the other person. This was after I waited probably 15 minutes in total from entering (there were only two people in front of me). If my fish was a medium, what size is a small? It's very disappointing because the fish and chips are cooked well. It's the second time I've been annoyed going here, the last time when they wanted to charge me £2.40ish to have a handful of chips on top of a fish butty.
