Champ's Field Campsite

We stayed here as a on route stop off. The site is lovely and small. The facilities are basic, but all we wanted. There is EHU, a shower and a WC inside an adjacent building. There is an external dishwashing area and chemical loo disposal. There was a kettle provided in the shower / washing area which we used to add hot water to the sink in the external dishwash sinks. We were not there in the summer, but there was a farm shop on site that was closed, I suspect this is peak times only.

Nice small campsite, with EHU available. My name was on the board identifying which pitch to use. I went out of season so was very cheap, with prices of shower clearly marked at £1 for 7 minutes. Hot water on demand for sinks to wash hands and face. Sink for dishes was cold water only, with an additional outside loo that would only be used in emergencies. Fields was nice and fairly level, but had to straddle 2 pitches during my stay due to some dog poo in the field. There was a scattering of more than 7 separate piles (of varying, but fairly recent ages) I noticed whilst playing ball with my children. On the second day I saw a little greyhound/lurcher sniff around the field then leave another deposit. The dog headed back towards the houses near the road so this was the guilty culprit. I hope the dig is discouraged from using the camping field in future as it's not very pleasant. Will be happy to return during the main season if they resolve the doggy issue.

This was the most perfect place to stay. The little touches like marshmallows for toasting, a whole kitchen at the side of the cabin etc. Such a hidden gem. Totally private and surrounded by nothing but peacefulness. Beautiful walks in the countryside and the most beautiful food at the Sun Inn! We really did have the best couple of nights here.

Small family run caravan/campervan/tent camp site run by a welcoming owner. Lovely place to go if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Nicely in the country but only about 10 miles from York. Close to a highly acclaimed local pub selling excellent food. The Sun Inn. Definitely worth hitching up the caravan and taking some time out to recharge the batteries.

Lovely quiet campsite. Limited facilities, but adequate for the numbers of guests and always well maintained and serviced. A warm welcome on arrival. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and hope to return sometime in the future!
