Cowling Village Hall

We use Cowling Village Hall for choir rehearsals, having used the church for some years. It has everything we need that the church lacks, including heat (the church is always cold) and multiple toilets (the church only has one). It would gain an extra two stars if the lights were fixed to stop flickering. We've only been attending for a few weeks but there's been something wrong with the lighting each time. Sometimes it's very subtle, sometimes blatant, but all times I have to try not to vomit and it takes me a while afterwards to readjust. I'd hate to think what effect they'd have on epileptics. Update: 23rd May 2025 It's been a while but the lights still flicker. The trustees have been informed but as yet nothing has been done to alleviate the situation. Last week was particularly bad - two lights flickering persistently for half an hour before finally settling down. I'll knock off a star if they're not fixed by next week. This is a health and safety concern. Update: 2nd October 2025 It's taken eons but the lights have finally been changed. For the first time ever, I enjoyed the venue and had no issues. The new lighting also gives off more light so I can see better in general. I've added one star - it would have been two but I didn't take one off after my previous update like I said I would. However, I'll add another one later if everything continues to be good going forward. Update: 12th December 2025 The main hall lights are still good and everything else still seems fine so I've added the extra star I promised.

Regularly visit here for weekly dance/exercise group. Always clean and tidy. Large windows provide plenty of light and ceiling fans provide good circulation of air. Toilets are clean. Good access from both the front and rear of the hall. Parking is available and free, but limited, and on road parking is available on the adjacent street. Great village amenity.

A lovely well managed village hall. Clean and tidy,warm and very welcoming for many uses. The village hall was carefully planned to accommodate various functions and lives up to that. There is on street parking and an area to the back of the hall for a few cars. To the Committee and caretaker who manage the village hall,well done.

This is a clean and tidy spacious facility ran by very decent people. I attended a support group there last Thursday, it was a very pleasant experience.
