Popped in here ... wished we hadn't. Disappointing but ok if you're really hungry (we were). Bit annoyed to pay 2.80 for this multipack can of Diet Coke, but we were exhausted so didn't raise it. Clean, decent speed of service, waitress was good.
I arrived in Haworth as a very hungry and tired solo traveller from Oxford and unexpectedly discovered this place. I was greeted very warmly by the owners. They accommodated me on a big table with the view of the hills even on a very busy Easter weekend morning. The whole atmosphere is so in line with the town's Brontë history, posters of Bronte films and books. I've a small appetite so just ordered buttered toast, fries and hot chocolate and sometimes the simplest things, if well prepared, taste heavenly. That's what I felt about eating here - comforting, generous, warm food on a windy morning. Had a very friendly chat with the owner at the end. I found the pricing to be lower than what most places offer.
This was the first place we saw when we arrived. We were really hungry so thought we'd give it a try. Big mistake! The breakfasts were served till 11.30 but it said they were flexible. They weren't, it was 12 o'clock but I couldn't have the scrambled eggs on toast. I picked a BLT which arrived on barely toasted cheap white bread. Bacon was like cardboard. 2 of us had sausage, egg and chips. The chips were overcooked fries, not chips. This needs to be stated on the menu. My husband commented on these and was told that's what you get. Long live good customer service! Avoid this place, there's much better places further down the street and cheaper as we found out.
Really disappointing. We went today and were struggling to find anywhere to eat as everywhere was busy. We went back to this place twice (an hour apart) to try and get a table and on the second visit the waiter was quite sharp about there not being a table and looked annoyed we decided to wait for one, but the owner found us a table within minutes and sat us down. He’s a lovely guy but the food was awful. We both ordered cream teas and were excited for a delicious treat. Turns out the scones were very dry and tasted like they had been frozen and defrosted. The “clotted cream” came in a little ramekin and was too light, airy and fluffy to be clotted cream and had no taste to it whatsoever. It was also a very small portion of cream and 1 sachet of jam for 2 scones!?!? It barely gave enough jam for one scone let alone two. I had to use the butter for the second scone because there was no cream or jam left and I wouldn’t have wanted more of the cream anyway, it was awful. The tea was so awfully strong it took 7 sugar sachets to make one small teacup drinkable. Not sure if it’s Yorkshire tea, not stating it if it is but I can’t stand that brand and would have liked a choice if that is what they are using. Just as we were leaving a waiter came up the stairs carrying what looked like a clear sack of rubbish into the kitchen and then we realised what it was…a big bag of frozen scones! Just like we had thought. The food we saw on other tables looked like nothing is home made and everything is frozen and thrown together. Really, really disappointing because the owner is so lovely but the food massively lets this little tea room down so we wouldn’t go again.
We did a day trip over to Haworth and was browsing the shop next door when the lovely owner told us about his cafe and advised child friendly. We say outside and a lovely day. Good choice of menu although no poached eggs as requested but I had a bacon roll which was lovely, we had chips, scrambled eggs on toast and a couple of hot drinks. All very nice. The owner was super nice and chatty. Inside was a lovely quaint tea room with gorgeous view. Toilets were very clean with plenty of toilet roll. Great spot and we were happy with our experience.
