Middle House Askrigg

Best Sunday dinner out we have had in ages. Meat was well cooked and vegetables were tasty (nothing was mushy, musty or needed salt). Extra gravy was provided without asking, lots of veg (and not cheap nasty ones) was well cooked and in lovely seasoning and sauce. The meat serving is beyond ample. Everyone left full and happy. The service is attentive, competent but not invasive. Considering all this, price wise, it's beyond competitive. The decore is well done. The Christmas decorations are sleek, traditional and beautiful. We really enjoyed it. Thank you, great job. X

When I first ate here a couple of years ago the food was great. Sadly it's gone right down hill. Still a nice pub, nice staff, friendly service and so on. But quality has really dropped in the kitchen - mostly bought in food and home made prices. I know the hospitality sector is finding time difficult - maybe Dona few things we'll rather than try to be something you can't live up to.

Excellent hosts with a superb staff. The room was comfortable and very spacious and the restaurant had a relaxed atmosphere and a very good choice of menu. We will definately return. Thanks for a great stay. The only negative point was that the Middle House had a really good sunny garden but the bar did not open until 16.00 hours even for residents. It would have been nice to sit in the garden in the sunshine with a drink.

Fantastic hotel. Well located in a beautiful village with stunning walks close by. Hosts were excellent. Food was perfect both breakfast and evening meal. Cannot fault our stay and will be back.

We didn’t stay in the hotel (although we hope to one day soon!) but we booked for Sunday lunch while staying in a local cottage. Sunday lunch was fabulous, staff really friendly and the price was reasonable enough for the quality and size of the portions. Would definitely return if staying in or near Askrigg in the future.
