High Dalby House and Cottages

High Dalby House is a unique, dog friendly, boutique retreat located in Dalby Forest within the North York Moors National Park. It offers first class bed and breakfast as well as self-catering accommodation in country house style.

Close to the coast and to York for days out, there is plenty to offer whether it be cycling, walking, experiencing adventurous paint balling or zip wires at nearby Go Ape, or simply reading writing, painting or generally relaxing and chilling in the magnificent 6 acres of private grounds. Here you will find a summer house reading room, woodland walks, a geodesic dome observatory, several arbours woodland walks, prolific wildlife and a reflective labyrinth. Guests are welcome to come and use the Hermitage with its steam room/sauna chapel/meeting room and observe milky way grade dark skies from the external hot tub, the fire pit or elsewhere in the grounds.

This is indeed a place to make a true retreat, a sanctuary where guests can enjoy its special ambience of comfort, care peace and tranquillity.

The vision of facilitating holidays and holydays belongs to resident hosts Ian and Linda who previously enjoyed demanding professional roles, as they look to create an environment that engenders recharged physical, social emotional, mental and spiritual batteries

High Dalby has 5 king sized bedroom in the main house and a further 2 in the adjacent self-catering cottages. Each room has a large en-suite or private bathroom with underfloor heating, flat screen TV, on-site parking.

Two beautifully appointed sitting rooms, one with glazed walls offering views of the grounds and the other with large screen TV, log burning stove and piano provide space and freedom for guests to relax and refresh over drinks from our well stocked bar.

For those wishing to make a structured spiritual retreat Ian and Linda, both Anglican priests, can develop a programme to suit your needs and/or accompany you on your journey, or provide you with meditations and reflections for your personal use around the grounds.

There are many blessings shared in this special location as it contributes towards human wholeness and well-being, guests often describe it as a sanctuary and speak of feeling unburdened and refreshed as they enter the grounds. It is a place to enjoy the changing seasons to be mindful and delight in the rhythms of light, shade and life.
