Our first time staying here and we couldn’t be happier. The cabin was so cosy and has everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay (bed very comfy). Our hosts were lovely and made sure we had everything we needed. The location is beautiful and so peaceful. We saw bats, owls and other birds and enjoyed walking in Dalby forest. we would defiantly come and stay again. Meg and Josh xx

My partner and I have enjoyed many spring and summer vacations at Dalby Forest Lodges. We always feel warmly welcomed by Liz and her husband, who are exceptional holiday hosts. The lodges provide a cosy and relaxing atmosphere, perfect for unwinding. Located in Dalby Forest, they are conveniently close to the visitor centre and beautiful hiking trails, making it an ideal getaway for nature lovers. The lodges are also situated near tranquil villages such as Thornton Dale, Goathland, and Hutton-le-Hole, among others. Each visit reaffirms why this destination is our favorite escape. Thank you, Liz. - Richard and Jonathan.

This is an updated review based on our third stay at these great log cabins. Firstly, they are in a fantastic location with great views over the woodland. We like to visit in early November, when the autumn colours are still in full effect, and this year did not disappoint. We stay in the larger cabins with two bedrooms, and have plenty of room. They are warm and cosy and while not overly luxurious, totally appropriate for the location and what we want from a holiday in the woods! Nicely furnished, comfy beds and well appointed small kitchen, they are a great place to unwind for a few days. The forest is a joy to explore, particularly at this time of year when it is very quiet. The owners are lovely people, very down to earth and clear about what is allowed and what isn’t, so make sure you read the information they provide properly, particularly the bit about no dogs, which is one of the plus points for us. We’re already booking to come back next year for our 4th visit so that show you how good we think it is!

We stayed here in October half term after travelling 8 hours to arrive with 2 young children. We called ahead at 6pm to inform the host of our late arrival and at 9pm, due to traffic. This was not met kindly and seemed as though we'd put the hosts out so we requested they leave the key with our friends in the lodge next door. Our friends also said the hosts had already complained that we'd make noise before we'd even arrived. Despite me booking the lodges together 6 weeks before, it became apparent we were not welcome before we had even arrived. The following morning we were met with hostility due to our friends dog and we were told we all had to leave. Our friends found alternative arrangements for their dog and offered compensation however, we were still told we had to leave. After driving 8 hours the night before, we were not best pleased, especially when we hadn't done anything wrong. It soon became clear the underlying issues was that we were a 'group' and were stigmatised for it. Collectively, we were 4 adults and 4 children, the eldest being 6 years old so not exactly party goers. If you are going with friends, I highly recommend looking elsewhere. The lodges are as they look, outdated, tidy, but not particularly clean. It is not cheap accommodation and despite the beautiful setting, everything is tired and the boiler buzzes every minute. We made the best of the area and got out as much as we could but would probably opt for other accommodation in the future.

So far it's great. The dark sky viewing is amazing (clear skies needed). We have yet to explore the surrounding area. But the lodge is well placed and close to the Dolby visitors center. Very quiet here but not two far out. Walking and relaxing is planned.
