White Swan

Very average experience. I stayed the night on my coast to coast walk and wish I hadn’t! Very little atmosphere in the pub at dinner and the food was pretty average I had a single room with old furniture, a cheap bed and terrible bedding…. Check out the grey sheets that used to be white, a long time ago Did I mention that the pubs gas boiler was in my bedroom and came on at 5am 😤 Certainly not worth the price I paid for the room

Food was fantastic, beer was great. You just need to be aware of the format to have dinner here. You have to place your order before 5:00 pm so they know what their cooking. Then everyone sits down at 6:30 pm for dinner. They only have one sitting for dinner in the evening so make sure you place your order before 5pm. We stayed at the Church More campground just down the road about 200 yards and called our order in from their. The campground has a menu in their public kitchen to order from.

Went out into the pub from the campsite... only two local guys were in there (including the owner). Had a great evening there... popped in and felt very welcome. Thank you. 4.50£ for a Pint? can't find that anywhere else apart from Wetherspoons...

Love this place. Simple pub with a really good menu and food. I had the fish pie, a couple craft beers and the dessert which actually might be my favorite, apple and gooseberry crumble tart with custard. Bangin'. The locals are great crack and super friendly. A quick stop in a pub ended up in a longer night than expected but is one of the highlights of our coast to coast trek. Danby Wiske and the white swan are a must stop!

Delicious food and charming service. Booking system worked well for me. The pub itself is lovely inside - nicely decorated and clean - and is located next to a pretty green. Would deff recommend and hope to return one day.
