Tastefully decorated following its refurbishment and reopening. Upto 4 Cask ales available. Excellent meeting/function room available upstairs with its own bar.
We had an absolutely fabulous night on Saturday celebrating my brother's 50th birthday. The host and her team went out of their way through out from prep(deco) to party finishing. Outstanding service and a beautiful venue for any function. Would definitely recommend and book again x 100%
As a semi regular customer, I recognise alot of faces, but being teetotal i can feel an atmosphere of people who want to start trouble or take liberties because I usually go in alone or with one or two others. Go in sober on a Saturday and want to enjoy the football and a redbull and you'll find yourself out of luck, if your face doesn't fit you won't be welcomed, barmaid doesn't say thanks, nor smile, first flag! subjected to mindless idiots who are drunk by 6pm and if you don't want to be bothered this is not the place for you, it's almost as if you're not part of the clique, you'll receive a frosty welcome. 18months ago the pub was very different, nobody bothered you, now the local crowd of drunkards inhabit the place, its a no-go not if you're interested in keeping your sanity.
Just called for a few beers sat teatime great atmosphere with a DJ playing some great music people up dancing and having a good time, will be calling back in for a few beers again sometime soon
18months-2years ago it was worth going in for a bit of socialising, since then definitely less welcoming and seemingly always an incident thats not of my making takes place. I would usually buy a drink, get with a smile, last time the barmaid was huffing n puffing as if it was a chore, no manners either, bad day maybe, then later on after after couple of hours and many more pints n shorts drunk, i was made to feel unwelcome by a guy, who seemed to take umbrage with the football team i support, being sober i didnt let it bother me. Incident was an absolute shocker had gone in after work to watch football with a friend then a woman snatched the hat off my head, asking if she could wear it i told kindly no then she promptly punched me in the eye, whilst onlookers inc. Barstaff, 6men awaited my reaction, i gave them the one they didnt want, i sat back down, watched the last 10 mins of the match and left never to return. This was 4months ago, i haven't been in since. Just the same old fashioned, if ya face doesnt fit they dont want to know you, nobody makes conversation, if one was you'd get an abrupt answer, depending on his drunk the patron was.. Another Dewsbury pub gone back to its roots was lovely 3-4yrs ago, same old vibes from other dewsbury pubs. Abysmal.
