The museum offers a wide variety of exhibits, including aircraft’s, helicopters, engines, with many opportunities to explore the cockpits. Each exhibit has an informative display that showcase the history of the local aviation. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
I struggled to find something my grandson, aged 10, and I could do together. I saw the advert for the South Yorkshire air museum, and thought we could go there. He absolutely loved every minute we spent there, he was so engaged with the open cockpit aircarfts, to the extent that he videoed what he was doing in the aircrafts and how they operated. When we left the museum, I asked him if he had enjoyed the visit, he said Cooool!
Went there for a networking event and afterwards I spent a lot of time just wondering around. Do much to look at, so much information and on some of the aircraft, you can sit in the cockpit. There is definitely something there for all ages
Better than expected so many things to look at loads of aircraft to see spent most of the day there would recommend had a great time 👍
The site was a lot larger than we expected, with a wide range of planes and helicopters, as well as several buildings full of exhibits, so it took us a couple of hours to see everything. There were a number of cockpits that were open for us to sit in. The flight simulator was also really fun. There are picnic benches and the site is also dog friendly, but I would recommend bringing layers if you're visiting on a cold day as the buildings were all chilly inside
