So peaceful and quiet. Toilets could do with a little improvement, as water pressure is a bit off when using the shower on busy mornings. Staff are lovely and are there so early in the morning and so friendly and helpful. We will definitely come again

In my option don't go £31 per night with elec. But showers don't get cleaned daily, no hot water for washing up. There is 5 sheep in the smallest pen. There is at least 80 chickens locked up in a double shed, no feed. There are caravan left abandoned and open. No mirrors in the wash area , ie in the toilet as the wasn't anywhere to just wash your face. You had to follow someone to wash your face, after they add taken a poo, 2 bins for a full camp isn't enough, over flow. Don't wast your money, this is clearly a site just to take it

This place is not fit for purpose. If I could give it no stars at all, I would. The good things: it's got a river around the perimeter, easy to get too, it's quiet. The bad things: 2 fields without any drainage whatsoever, the lower field is uneven with a large dip in the middle that collects water, the upper field is a slight slope, so water runs off into the lower field. To enter these fields, you have to drive through a ford across the river the only entrance/exit, that at the time was approx 4 inch deep on arrival. On arrival, we got stuck in the mud, car and caravan, so called the number on the entrance sign only to be told there was no means or tractor to pull us out, it was only help from another resident we managed to get the car out and just swing the van we're it got stuck and hook up there. The manager arrived just prior and could see how much trouble we'd had, field churned up, mud everywhere, only to be told "well you knew it was a grass pitch, and we did email you to tell you" I never received it. The manager gave us No information about the site and went. We found the toilet block door and to find inside was discusting, no toilet rolls, no paper towels, no hot water, it was dirty and looked like work still in progress. 2 days later, still no one had come to clean the toilet block and replenished needed items mentioned. No signage anywhere, no facility for women's products either, just terrible. Finally found the Elsen point which was basically a hole in the ground with an upside down traffic cone stuck in it and some wood fencing surrounding it, again no signage, the amount of times someone asked if there was one at all happened 4 times. There was a foot bridge over the river, but you had to climb over a wire fences and walk through 2 fields and jump off a low wall to get to it. Day before we were due to leave, we decided to move the van nearer to the entrance knowing heavy rain was coming in that night. The next day was just mud carnage when people were trying to leave. Everybody, apart from 2 who had 4x4s, had to be dragged of site one by one (cars, campers and caravans) by the super helpful farmer next the campsite (well done fella, you worked hard), if it wasn't for him and his generosity we would not have got of the site, the river is now rising across the ford and flowing strongly approx 6 inch deep now. At £30 a night, was an expensive nightmare. This site should not be listed on Pitchup. NOT recommended. Should be kept closed until they put proper drainage in place, put in a footbridge near the ford, finish the toilet block, put signage up and employ a cleaner. If anyone had a medical emergency, or fire, they would have been in trouble. Apart from that, there are some nice pubs on the main road and would highly recommend them.

This is the best camping holiday we have been on yet! I have 4 children and they absolutely loved it! Everything is within walking or short driving distance away. We met some great people and the lady that run the site couldn't do enough for us. I'm going back as soon as possible! The swimming baths were outstanding just a short drive up the road! We have been camping every year but my kids said this was the best ever!!!!(there words). Absolutely brilliant!!

I booked this site before reading the other reviews and I nearly didn’t go. But I’m glad I did. I cannot fault this place. It’s a large field for camping, very peaceful and no bother. Yes there are old caravans to the side but they are not in the way. Yes there are sheep, but roaming free. Didn’t see any chickens. The showers and toilets were cleaned regularly, always plenty of toilet roll and the showers were super hot! Loved it. Always good to have hot shower after 25 miles of walking. They are clearly doing the place up, and it’s coming along nicely. I would stay here again.
