Beautiful little church, which you can visit by canal as well as land. (Mooring is a little soggy but you'll be fine! There is room to park if you come by car.) From here you can easily get to brilliant local cafe or pubs too so it's an ideal spot to pause on a boating holiday.
A fairly unusual ring of bells. St Peter's church at East Marton has a ring of 3 bells. The treble, the lightest bell, and the tenor, the heaviest bell, were both cast in 1859 by G Mears & Co. The second bell was cast c. 1635 by William Oldfield of Bradford. The bells are tuned E, D, & B with the tenor bell weighing c. 360 kg. We came and rang here in October 2016 as the barge Kennet was travelling from Leeds to Liverpool to mark the 200th anniversary of the opening of the canal.
