About Woolshops Shopping Centre Car Park
Woolshops Shopping Centre Car Park provides essential parking facilities in the heart of Halifax. Situated conveniently on Gaol Lane, it offers direct, immediate access to the popular Woolshops Shopping Centre, making it an ideal choice for shoppers. Additionally, the car park is just a short stroll from other key Halifax town centre attractions, including the historic Piece Hall, Victoria Theatre, and various independent shops and restaurants, allowing easy exploration on foot.
The car park operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, ensuring round-the-clock access for visitors. This continuous availability provides flexibility for early morning arrivals or late-night departures, accommodating diverse travel plans.
Visitors should be aware that, like many central car parks, it can experience high demand, especially during peak shopping times or weekends. Some users have observed that parking bays, particularly on lower levels, may be compact, and navigating during busy periods can require patience. Despite these considerations, its excellent proximity to the retail offerings of Woolshops and other town centre amenities ensures it remains a practical and highly accessible option for those visiting Halifax.

Shocking appeals process that half the time the website does not work. I parked here when I took part in the Midnight Walk supporting Overgate Hospice on Saturday 13 September. Arrived at roughly 11.20pm in pouring rain. Completed the walk. I was knackered and sore legs. Went to collect my car and it was roughly 4.20am and went to drive off. Got to the top of the ramp and realised I hadn’t paid!! Reversed back, went to the pay machine (once I found it). I could only pay the £2.50 and no other people available at that time of the morning. Guess what about 7 weeks later I received a fine!! Appealed and got a rather abrupt letter telling me it was my own fault for driving off without paying and they declined the parking fine. I do have another appeal route to go through which I will. I’m disgusted I received a fine and I had completed a tough charity walk and it is not like I didn’t pay either for parking!! You should be ashamed, this walk was for a local charity and I live approximately 1 hours drive away!! We attended the event as a work charity event and one of my other colleagues also received a parking fine!! I will avoid using any car parks owned by this company moving forward!!
Don't park here as you run the risk of receiving a fine - even when you use the app and pay! Parked here for a trip to the theatre on 13th September 2025 - downloaded the app, input all of the details required, paid fee - would only let me pay maximum of £2.50 as when I tried to enter an exit time of 2300 hours the app wouldn't let me it just kept defaulting back to an earlier time and parking fee kept at £2.50. I assumed that this was an evening rate and duly paid the fee. 22nd September - £100 fine issued stating that I had overstayed authorised parking session. I paid what the app permitted me to after I had tried to set the session for longer and pay more! Reading reviews I am not the only person to have been stung by this car park.
Won't park here again. Drove in today, looked for a space for around 10 mins but couldn't find one so paid £3.50 and left. Most car parks give you a short grace period. Not my fault there were no spaces, so bit of a rip off in my opinion! Update on this, I checked and the grace period given is 15 mins. Thank you for the feedback.
Came on a Saturday, the car park was rammed packed. They should have cones or someone to tell people not to park. Did two laps around upstairs and two downstairs to look for parking but it was just so busy, full of cars, did not end up parking since there was no space and ended up parking elsewhere but have now received a fine. Not my fault this place doesn’t do traffic control, I was stuck behind cars not moving for about 10 mins. Absolutely shocking and would not come here again.
Warning to all who park at Woolshops Halifax: Please note that there is a fault with the cameras which capture your vehicle registration plate as you enter and you are likely to be overcharged / charged twice. When you try to pay at the payment machine it will not recognise your registration plate number as it doesn't capture this when you enter and you are likely to then be charged twice and for a longer session than booked. This happens even if you download the My Parking Space app as you have to give card details and double charges are made via unauthorised transactions. Do not use the app or the website as this is also faulty and you will have money taken out of your account without your authorisation. Be warned and park elsewhere, the My Parking Space payment options here are a complete rip off.
