I attended my second carving course last week, and as ever, it was phenomenal! This time, like last, the experience was worth every penny, and the support and professionalism was second to none. Furthermore, over the years, I have bought lots of accessories from The Rocking Horse Shop. The quality and expert advice and guidance is always exemplary! Particular thanks to James and Lynn. Without you both, I would not now have a stunning extra large horse, a decorative one, a horse rocker chair, and another large horse partially carved. You have enabled fabulous heirlooms that will be passed to generations to come. Jacqui x

Booked a carving course If you've no previous experience at all this is the course for you All you need is a bit of passion, James was our instructor and mentor. Very patient and guided us through the whole process as well as giving an insight into the workings of the company. You come away with a great looking horse head. Very friendly team around you lots of coffee, tea provided and a great lunch. Even a great BnB in the village Great course great people Had an amazing time. Give yourself a real treat book on one.

Absolutely brilliant course, learned a huge amount and although it’s a little scary,( as you don’t want to ruin your carving). The staff were absolutely amazing and talked you though it. Having carved the head I am no working on the rest of the horse. Hopefully finish it within a year. Would recommend this course for anyone of all abilities it’s brilliant.

The Rocking Horse shop is an inspiring small business; they produce beautiful traditionally made rocking horses using (as far as possible) local and british materials. I have now participated in two of their carving courses and am well on my way to completing my first rocking horse as a gift to my grandchildren and possibly a family heirloom. I can commend their kits of raw materials and pre-cut laminars for the plywood horse. If you are inclined to learn how to carve, I commend The Rocking Horse Shop.

I never considered myself an artist or a hands-on craftsman at all. I had a friend who had a glue but unsculptured small rocking horse in his attic gathering dust. He gave it to be so I thought I'd give it a try. I got onto Rocking horse UK for clues, hinds suggestions and ended up buying my accessories. From the start of my shaping using their instructions my grandsons horse started to look beautiful. Well to me anyway. athe finished product I was so proud of. I then ordered a medium size which is almost completed for twin grand niece babies. The medium is near completion for Xmas. Every time I look at it I cant believe I've done it. It looks awesome and gives me such a satisfying feeling. I have now already ordered my large size and look forward to starting that. Rockinghorse UK make it all so easy. The hardest part is just finding the time LOL.
