Its my first time joining my family to go for the fun swim in the morning. Woke the kids early to go for the 9:45 -10:45 swim. This seems like a nice long time, but when we got in the pool, the staff restricted me and my kids from going to the deep end. I get its 3+meters deep, but my kids can swim on their own and dont need arm bands at all. Plus I am a very good swimmer and if needed I can get them if they struggle and can swim holding them to sides. I have child in his hoop but he knows not to remove it. He is conditioned that way. The pool got quite packed so you couldn't really go around or play chasing games with the kids. And my kids , eventually got bored after 20 mins due to the lack of pool space we could use. They were not even discreet when exchanging life guards and made is obvious when pointing people out to be careful to watch. I didnt find them friendly to be honest. I paid £25 for our family of 5 but left the pool 20 mins in as I wasnt even enjoying myself. The showers are not cubicles, so you cannot have a shower properly unless your very comfy getting baked infront of young girls you don't know, not to mention the showers are 3 ft next to the pool entrance. The lockers were dirty inside, and some changing cubicles had missing locks. Only things I liked were that, there is a hair dryer, pool is warmish, showers have warm water, and unlike a few other swimming centres, there is seperate male and female changing but not family ones... I wanted my money back to be honest. One parent also came out 10 mins after me saying she too got out for the same reasons as me, and as the pool was packed and she was pregnant it would be risky to be kicked by another child. I wanted to talk to the receptionist but, the staff I was complaining about were walking about, and I didnt want to risk them having a confrontation infront of my kids. My daughter also, who is special needs and would often wave to the staff, who seemed to care less about being nice and waving back. Such a bad first impression for me!
I go to the gym often and it is basically fine. The staff are always friendly which is a big plus. The gym itself feels a little cramped and dingey, and too hot, with not enough treadmills but also no space for more. I do like the treadmills themselves though, and the ability to "run" through different landscapes is a nice touch! My biggest gripe is the late opening time at the weekend especially on a Sunday. I don't think I am the only person who wants to go to the gym early. I wouldn't mind so much if it was cheaper than 24 hour gyms but it isn't, even if you never use the pool etc. It's also really the only option in central pudsey . If a PureGym opened up in pudsey I would choose that in a heartbeat being perfectly honest
The most disgusting showers I have ever used in my life no hot water and rust everywhere and the Lockers are like something from the dark ages half don’t work an Upgrade Urgently required to the male Changing rooms
It’s a great gym and swimming baths but could do with being updated the staff are lovely though
Staff are helpful, the buildings interior had undergone rebuild of reception and new paint / styling. Reception is now a desk, which works OK, but surely the height should match the standing customers? PS, why include squash in Membership, but charge £13 an hour for badminton - seems badmintonist. Otherwise pleasant and accessible services. Update autumn 2022: no change, all good. The prices just rose for all services, but all below inflation. Update summer 2024, all good, staff seem more motivated and happy. Update summer 2025, the staff make the center.
