About The Mitre

Description

Welcome to The Mitre, one of Knaresborough’s finest dining, drinking and accommodation experiences. We're proud to have achieved a 4 star rating for our bedrooms and to be listed in the 2009, 2010 & 2011 CAMRA Good Beer Guides.

Built in 1922 on the site of a former inn called The Wheatsheaf, the Mitre was closed in 2003. Since then it has been completely refurbished to the highest possible standard to faithfully restore the magnificence of one of Knaresborough most renowned inns.

Re-opened late 2007 to the general public, The Mitre is now offering sumptuous food, fine hand-pulled real ales and luxurious accommodation.

Situated at the top of Water Bag Bank (adjacent to St Johns Church and Knaresborough railway station) The Mitre benefits from superb views, is only 10-minutes drive from the centre of the spa town of Harrogate and is the perfect place to meet, relax and enjoy yourself.

Our first visit here to try the food, did not disappoint very flavoursome. Vibrant, different textures, thoroughly enjoyed. Was really good value for money. Yes we had to order at the bar, you get wooden cutlery and food is served in baskets, but it is street food and it what keeps the costs down. Didn't bother us in the slightest. Lovely evening, and will definitely be back.

Located near Knaresborough train station. It has street parking nearby. Serves Brew York ales as well as ciders and spirits. The food is Korean and Japanese street food, which was delicious. You order via a QR code and it is served in bowls / baskets with wooden cutlery. We went on a Friday at lunchtime. The staff were lovely and they even helped bring out a board and knife for my husband to cut a birthday cake that a friend had brought.

Came back after a couple of years to find no parking so had to park 20 mins walk away to an overnight car park. No breakfast in with the price of £150 for one night in Nov. It's such a shame. Used to be great place. The owners need to take note.

Had a fantastic extended weekend at The Mitre Inn in Knaresborough. The staff were friendly and incredibly helpful — especially Mia and Lucy, who really stood out for their excellent service. Our room was clean, well-furnished, and had a very comfortable bed. Even though there’s no parking on-site, the nearby car park is just a short walk away and only costs £5.30 for 24 hours, so it’s not a big deal at all. All in all, a great place to stay with top-notch hospitality. Highly recommended!

We want to try out the food in the Mitre lay night. They have a Brew York vibe going on with all their beers and food. The Bao and loaded fries are really tasty and well made. Good job to the staff in the pub!
