We recently dined at The Old George and, unfortunately, it didn't live up to expectations. While the staff were pleasant enough, there were significant issues that affected the experience. We arrived excited for a meal but ended up waiting over an hour for our food, which was quite frustrating. There was only one chef working, which might explain the long delay, but it didn’t make it any easier to be patient. When the food finally arrived, it was a bit of a letdown. The sausage was dry, lacking the juiciness you’d expect, and the pork was overcooked to the point of being tough and chewy. Despite the issues, no goodwill gesture or acknowledgment of the wait was offered, which left a bit of a sour taste (especially as the table next to us were offered money of their bill!) It’s clear that the staff tried to be friendly, but with the food not up to par and no effort to make amends for the long wait, I’m not sure I’ll be returning anytime soon. It’s a shame because with a little more attention to service and food quality, it could have been a much better experience.
This was a nice spot for drinking, harboring a relaxed and compact feel! The wall is decorated with images that have classic humorous captions and outside seating area is lovely, situated right by the streets. I had a pint of Cruzcampo at a cheap price, served by the friendly staff at the stylishly presented counter!
The Old George is a traditional pub in the heart of goole. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and there was a wide range of beers lager and cider, unfortunately they don't have any hand pulled cask conditioned real ales. It is a nice cosy pub, and there is an outside seating area. I haven't tried the food, so i can't comment on it.
No food at all. Just a bar under new ownership. People were pleasant and directed us across the street to the Weatherspoon which has a big menu and good service.
Walked in, empty pub, barmaid on FaceTime to somebody. Got served no issue and drank my drink. Waited 10 minutes and after making it very clear I was waiting and still wasn’t acknowledged decided to leave. Said ‘thanks duck’ as I left and she never even looked up from her phone. Absolutely appalling tbh. I won’t walk through those doors again.
