Historic church about quarter mile from Linton village. Set in scenic peaceful setting. The church wasn't open so unable to see inside.
Thiis was a 1 star experience because this outwardly lovely chuch was not open. Which is nothing short of a disgrace. The churchwardens, or whoever decided to lock the doors and deny anyone entry..either as a tourist interested in the building, or anyone seeking spiritual refreshment...come unto me all you who are weary and heavy laden etc... should think seriously whether their actions can be justified. Why the church cannot be open at specific limited times, and those times made available in the excellent Grassington Visitor Centre, thus ensuring no-one makes a wasted trip, is beyond me. The graveyard contains many interesting features, not least some unusual gravestones. There are exquisite carvings above the windows. The interior must be equally interesting. One accesses the church from the Grassington Visitors centre via Linton Falls..well worth visiting. If one exits the graveyard towards the river and crosses the stepping stones one can turn left and return to the falls. Despite the disappoint caused by those unthinking persons responsible for denying the pleasure of visiting a church which promises much, the walk is worth the effort Just pray that by the time you visit some wisdom may prevail among those responsible for the church being inaccessible.
Beautiful little church...so quiet & peaceful...some really beautiful headstones ...also nice footpath through to see linton stepping stones...didn't see another soul there x
Lovely well kept church and burial grounds.
Beautiful setting situated next to Linton falls and a short stroll from the village. Well kept surroundings and most likely steeped in history given the ancient looking building and some prominent family tombstones. I believe at present closed to visitors inside the building due to the current covid restrictions. Well worth a trip if in the area.
