Owner and chef John Rudden and his team prepare award-winning dishes, which focus on locally sourced and seasonally inspired ingredients, done the ‘Grassington House way’ – traditional luxury with a modern and eclectic twist. A former winner of AA Chef of the Year, John brings his state of the art kitchen to life, creating everything from traditional Sunday roast that features 14-hour slow roasted beef, to a fine dining gourmet dinner over five courses. The restaurant receives regular praise and acclaim. Two prestigious awards in 2016 are just examples of this, one presented to each the restaurant and the accommodation, including a double AA Rosette for ‘excellent restaurant, which aims for and achieves higher standards with obvious attention to the selection of quality ingredients.’ The bar at Grassington House is a warm, inviting and friendly location in which to pause a while, with a choice of select beers and ales, and an extensive offering of handpicked wines and spirits. A private terrace opens directly out onto a view of the bustling Grassington town square, and is popular on a summer’s day for a Pimms or locally distilled gin and tonic, whilst heaters and warm blankets offer diners an attractive seat in which to enjoy a digestif. The bar is open during the day for coffee and tea and light lunches, the most popular of which include John’s infamous open chicken sandwich, served with pesto and fat chips, and not forgetting homebaked scones with Grassington House preserves.
