The Blue Stoops
About
Description
The Blue Stoops is situated in Dronfield, a village on the border of Sheffield that famously protested against being taken into South Yorkshire and still remains steadfastly in Derbyshire. The pub’s name comes from the tradition of painting doorposts, pillars and stoops blue to signify to travellers that it was an inn and has been a community pub since the 16th century.
The fascinating history of the pub and village influenced the 2016 refurbishment and there’s something new to discover on every visit. The pub has the atmosphere of a grand hall rather than a traditional inn and guests are treated to wood-panelled rooms and cosy corners.
Our menu is locally sourced to deliver home cooked traditional British food and drinks with a modern twist.
The pub caters for large parties or events with two spaces available to hire. The Parlour, a separate part of the restaurant is perfect for networking, birthdays or any occasion.
The Bryon Room underwent an extensive refurbishment to deliver an impressive banquet room and has hosted weddings, christenings and all big celebrations. The room is named after Lord Byron, the 18th century poet who is thought to have owned a cottage in the village.
