Food was great, regular lamb sunday dinner and gluten free beef sunday dinner. Fabulous gluten free Yorkshire pudding! Tasty stuffing, plenty of veg, served hot. Service was a little slow on drinks orders in particular (although the espresso martinis were good on arrival!) and nobody came to check on us after food had been delivered/started eating. Table water was a little cloudy and not chilled for first bottle. Second bottle was chilled and not cloudy, different server. The layout and decor is nice. We sat at a two seater with a bench for one seat and chair for the other. The bench was a bit higher than the seat so felt a little awkward/uncomfortable but otherwise good.
We celebrated my husband’s 60th birthday at The Summerhouse, and the entire experience was absolutely wonderful. Everything was planned and executed beautifully, from start to finish. The canapés were delicious, and it was such a relief not to have to worry about a thing — everything was completely taken care of. All of our guests had a fantastic time and commented on the gorgeous and creative food combinations. Thank you for making the celebration so special and truly perfect.
I was very pleased to see the Summerhouse when I left the Dore station en route to the Abbeydale Industrial hamlet. I just needed a coffee so was able to order that at the front desk and popped to the loo whilst this was prepared. I sat inside at the front of the establishment which was lovely. There were also lots of seats outside. It’s beautifully decorated and feels quite luxurious with rich deep coloured cushions. I didn’t have anything to eat but the menu looked really good.
Prebooked a table for 7 with a set menu, arrived at the agreed time. Had to wait 30 minutes just to get water on the table 🙄 only 1 bar staff working the whole house, poor staff organisation, food was presented lovely, although it was a long wait for courses to be served. I had brie starter, a little overcooked but still delicious. Main course I had steak it was cooked perfectly. Brownie and ice-cream for dessert, delicious and rich gooey chocolate. A little overpriced I feel but it was a Christmas menu
The decor is stylish and gives the impression of fine dining, but sadly that’s where it ends. We weren’t made to feel particularly welcome on arrival as we hadn’t booked, despite calling minutes earlier and being told tables were available. Service was slow from start to finish, from taking our order to food arriving. The food was nothing special — basic pub-style dishes that didn’t justify the prices, with mains just under £20. Even the washrooms were unimpressive, with questionable “white jasmine” handwash and a rusted radiator awkwardly placed under the hand dryer. No hot water either. The final bill was £119 for four mains, two sides and one 250ml glass of wine, including a 9% service charge. Having worked in hospitality for over a decade, this felt like a place relying on looks rather than quality. Not somewhere I’d return to or recommend.
