I've a chest infection for past month, coughing bright green stuff up, cant lift my arms up as it hurts my chest , I rung up told the receptionist my symptoms, while I'm struggling to breath with asthma too, telling me a dr will get in touch, I got a text saying I'm not a priority and I should go to the call in centre. For a 50 year old who's had multiple chest infections should know when I've a chest infection and needed antibiotics. I'm still coughing up bad stuff , still taking half breaths when I do anything. And I'm having pains in my chest. So pls someone tell me what drs are really for if they can hand pick whoever they want to see.

Im really surprised at the bad reviews. My son and I joined this practice about 3 years ago after relocating to the area. We both have complex health problems and I have found The Avenue extremely supportive and helpful, in particular Dr Bunnel has been amazing in helping us along with Dr Baird and would highly reccomend asking to see them.

I joined this practice 4 years ago after moving to the area and I really can’t say anything negative about it. I have had a baby within that time so have had numerous appointments - all of which have been great. The online triage form is very effective and I have always been given an appointment the same day. I had some complications after birth and Dr Knox was very helpful and looked after me during that time - I will be forever grateful. She is a real credit to the team. I have seen other GP’s there and midwives and all have been great. Well done The Avenue!

Absolutely the WORST surgery I have ever had to deal with. The receptionists are awful and so very unhelpful and absloute lairs. The whole set up of communication is abysmal and the patient care is just rock bottom. No additional help for OAP who don't have access to the Internet for making appointments. Receptionist seems to all act like doctors and ask far too much personal information in front of a que less than 1 meter away from the desk. The whole surgery can hear private details. Was told that my parents could come in to surgery and the reception staff would help but this has not happened. My elderly father gave up trying to get an appointment and now 6 months later he's now been diagnosed with cancer which the doctor here told him it was a UTI infection. This surgery needs closing down. When asked for formal complaints procedure I was asked to leave and given incorrect details. I will not let this drop!

Have nothing but praise for the way that the practice has operated since Covid kicked in. OK it is sometimes frustrating to have to endure the long introduction to the phone calls but once you contact a receptionist they are and always have been very helpful and civil. I'm afraid that we will probably have to accept that the days of being able to phone and get a face to face appointment on the day for anything urgent and within a week for anything non urgent are gone forever unless we get more doctors prepared to take up GP work. My phone consultations have always been good and they caught my cancer extremely well. I feared the merger but again have had no problems with my dealings with Jordanthorpe Centre but have sympathy for those less mobile who may have to travel across there.
