Absolutely pants. Bogchief never fails to disappoint. The course is in such bad nick. The drainage is dreadful and some of the course design is just horrendous - for example the third hole has a fairway that slopes so aggressively right to left that you pretty much have to carry into the right rough to end up in the fairway - I'm all for a challenge but this just seems ridiculous. You'll typically be affected by dog walkers who act like they want to be hit, and definitely by slow play. We were behind three lads wearing hoodies and jeans who will have genuinely struggled to get round in under 5 hours. Bonkers. You're actually just better off staying home.
Always enjoy playing here, great staff, friendly and knowledgeable. For a council run course, Beauchief is always in lovely condition and despite it's short distance, offers plenty of challenge for golfers.
One of the most stunning golf courses i have ever played on - beautiful undulating course set in the grounds of a medieval abbey 😍😍. The course itself is actually very challenging as it has big peaks and troughs in the land. It is quite hilly and there are very long holes which are still par 4 and 3 and also challenges like water hazards etc! Loved the challenge. The clubhouse was lovely and so nice to sit and have a pint after a round of golf. Beautiful awe inspiring place for a townie like me and a big clubhouse with a shop and everything. Great course and very friendly people playing too - not like other snotty golf courses!
I love this golf course, however, don’t expect anyone to ever pick up the phone, whichever option you press on the call menu.
If I could give 0 stars i would. Charging £24 with 6 winter greens and water logged fairways is a disgrace. We noticed the flag at half mast. We assume some one had died from a heart attack when you told them it was £24. I know it’s off season golf but it feels like the course has been abandoned and you can’t be charging full price when Birley is 10 times better condition and only £10
