Surprise View Car Park

A charge for nothing! The experience was the same for years before and it was free. More rip-off. Don't be a mug, park road-side 50m away for nothing. At only £1.20 to park (cash machine not working so you have to use an app) if you do that every week you'll save over £60 a year, which cost you over £80 before tax. More than you think.

I love visiting Surprise View on the Chevin for walks with the dog – it’s one of those places that never gets old. However, the enforced payment to park by the council feels a bit frustrating, especially when the supposed charging is meant to contribute to improving the parking and facilities – yet nothing has been seen or even planned, which is disappointing. Putting that aside, the location itself is brilliant. On a clear day, the views stretch for miles in all directions – it’s genuinely breathtaking. And if you head up there during wild, windy weather, it’s a completely different experience again – raw, dramatic, and somehow even more invigorating.

We found Chevin Forest Park at the Surprise View car park and we went from there. Wow, it was really a Surprise View. You really needed to see it. I used some photos to give you some examples only. Enjoy!

Great place to park for a walk at Otley Chevin. Plenty of space and parking is free. We've previously walked a few times through the Chevin and it's a great place. Today we visited the giant cross before it disappears for another year. I thought we'd get a decent view...maybe a sunset. Instead we got mist and rain!

This us a top spot to bring a flask or some fish n chips and sit and wa5ch the sun come down .Amazing views
