Hade Edge AFC

Really welcoming people. Great facilities. Good food as well. A family run club for many years.

I am very disappointed with Hade Edge. Having been involved with the club for over a decade, one of my children was head hunted by the younger team'coach due to his ability and need to strengthen the team. My son was happy where he was. The coach was persistent telling him he would get more matches to play in. Dangling many carrots. It was explained by me the level of commitment he could give and the coach was very happy with this. He was committed on training night to gymnastics. We moved teams to help the club and after a year the coach not just metaphorically changed the goal posts but literally and he said if he could not make training nights he would not be put forward him forward to play much.By this time he had left the team where he was happy. My son went from hero to zero overnight. The coach then tried to move him into another team when he was surplus to requirements. I only discovered this after my son commented that he was very cold and wet having stood around to play for 10 minutes. He also felt humiliated as the coach pulled him out when it was an integral time to the match. My son felt let down and upset having first developed at the tots session when he was under 5. No feedback or update was given by the coach. I've raised a complaint and concern over child welfare and the club secretary was dismissive stating they are all volunteers and this is football. I recognise the good work they have done until this recent experience with this coach, sadly no one wished to call him to account. I loved Hade edge as it was a lovely, inclusive family club but this coach had fundamentally changed the ethos and sadly I would not recommend it.

I now know why the car boot is on only a few times in the summer. .... bitterly cold and windy. But rich pickings (and no new rubbish), and the facilities and sandwiches were great. I'll definately go again next year but in winter clothing.

A great little club that also caters for private functions. Nice big grounds and in the beautiful surroundings of Hade Edge.
