A stunning interior. Open first Saturday of each month
nice to walk round
Rarely open.... only the first Saturday of every month during summer. (But you can check on their Facebook page.) It's gleaming spire caught my eye from a distance on a sunny day, so I trekked up to it, regretfully to find it locked, therefore I cannot review the interior. Has a statue of the renowned Edward Ackroyd in its grounds.
All Souls is an architectural masterpiece and acoustic gem. Its definitely worth visiting when open. It's sad it can no longer be used for regular worship but when occasional services are held there it has a real spiritual presence.
Having admired All Souls for many years, I went to Sunnyside school up the hill, I visited today. It is undoubtedly a jewel in the crown of visitor attractions, though sadly not promoted and marketed as such. If you do get an opportunity to look inside you won't be disappointed.
