The first time I used the Esso app to pay for fuel. I refueled for 40 pounds, and 100 pounds were debited from my account (deposit/funds blocking). Although the money was returned later, not everyone can afford such a blocking of funds on the card. This is very inconvenient and ill-considered.

3rd time in a month they refused the Yodel parcel drop off. Take the shop off yodel If your not offering the service.

Refused to take my yodel parcel as she was busy restocking crisps on the shop floor. Would have been different no doubt if I’d had fuel to pay for.

ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! I will never, ever use ASDA Express Fuel again! Please be aware, if you fill up at an ASDA express filling station and your payment method is not accepted you will have to return to the SAME STATION in person with an alternative payment method. They do not accept payments over the phone. If your not in your home town that could potentially be a very long journey costing time and fuel. I asked prior to filling my tank with if my fuel card was accepted, I was told it was, turned out it wasn't. Staff had no list of fuel cards they can accept, turns out they just guessed that mine would be accepted. I had no alternative method of payment on me so I had to fill out a non-payment form. I was phoned several days later from the store asking me to call in to settle the debt, I asked to pay over the phone only to be told that it wasn't possible. When I said I couldn't get there for a few days the person who phoned me started implying that I was refusing to pay and he was going to process it as that. I eventually agreed that I would pay within 3 days as the tone of the conversation implied that the debt would be passed on otherwise. I phoned head office and they confirmed that this is correct, they do not accept payments over the phone, they said it was a security issue. You have to return to the filling station to pay, absolutely unbelievable in 2025! Luckily for me I'd filled up in my home town. If I'd filled up the 77L of diesel while say on holiday in Penzance I would have been looking at a 13 to 14 hour round trip using around 100 to 120L of diesel. All because because ASDA Express are not trained adequately in what payment methods they can and can't accept!

Visited Esso on 21/08/2024 First impressions weren’t the best really . The fuel pumps are quite old fashioned now . Also Someone had spilt diesel on the floor before me filling up and it wasn’t cleaned up. Which then made my footwear really slippy which isn’t the best when you’re driving a vehicle . It’s indeed of a revamp in my eyes . The fuel app payment system isn’t very well signposted at pumps . A sticker just slapped on the front of the fuel pump casing isn’t very clear . These signs need to be on eye level . On a plus note the staff were very pleasant to me . All been said I shall return and use the Esso service station again .
