I loved visiting Halifax Borough Market. It has such a warm, old-fashioned charm with its glass roof and friendly stalls. You can grab fresh food, discover little quirky shops, or just enjoy the atmosphere. It feels like stepping back in time but still very alive today.
It’s original in structure and it has been a little rundown over the last few years, but recently investment and some very artisan shops are now popping up inside the market makes it worth a weekend visit.
Accessories in the Borough Market Hall are one if the best ladies shops EVER !!! If you like your lLagenlook, vintage and / or quirky this really is the shop to visit!!! Christine, the owner, has taken on a second unit & her vibrant displays of scarves, brollies, dresses, tops, costume jewellery etc etc shouldn't be missed regardless of the occasion you're shopping for or when you feel like treating yourself & us ladies have one of those now and again !! I've shopped with Christine more or less since she opened as I love the Lagenlook style. Her range plus now accessorise the choice is fabulous & so many styles & sizes I really can't imagine anyone being disappointed. Her pricing is also very fair and as I've shopped in several similar shops over many years I've found her prices to be very reasonable & a good deal in comparison. I daren't say how much today's ' little treat' cost me but I've got some lovely items that I'll really enjoy wearing. Thanks to Christine and Janet, 15/10 and very much deserved, thank you x x Well, who's spotted the new cheese stall in our Market? Being passionate about cheese, pickles and the 🌟 of any cheeseboard olives in every variation, this one is a double definie MUST go !! I treated myself to a bag of goodies yesterday and out with the crackers at home and heaven on a teaplate with what else but a mug of naturally, Yorkshire Tea to wash it down with. Like I said heaven on a plate and when I go back next week, probably for a few more treats, then I'll take pictures and you'll see exactly what I mean. Clever guys running the show, they've got tiling to match the originals which are absolutely gorgeous and I'd hate to see any more damage done to our town by what can I say ? Greedy out of town'ers who think it's OK to fill it with drunks and idiots who run the poor Police off their feet. Brilliant in so many ways with amazing Victorian buildings but greed like so many other places is ruining the whole place for many local people. Houses gone, greedy landlords pushing disabled into homelessness just isn't right. Lots of Services who do incredible work helping but where are the Council when people really need help? Grabbing money to pay into the flaming Piece Hall and their own pension scheme. Then what happens? You get taxed like me and it makes me sick.
Fab market. Nice smattering of stalls and cafes including a lovely plant stall. Lovely architecture.
Always like the architecture of this building, the recent renovation is quality. The centrepiece wooden clock tower/seating area is lovely. Lots of good stores, some incredible food places.
