We were very lucky to have one of the museum volunteers ( Matthew) take us on a tour of the museum. It was a very interesting place to visit, and we thoroughly enjoyed the informative tour. It was lovely to meet a number of the volunteers who were very friendly and as well as happy to share their knowledge, enthused us with their passion for the museum and exhibits. We spent around 3 hours there, as there is a lot to see. Interesting to see how this all links with Manchester too Thank you . It was a great place to visit
I myself recently visited the one & only historically captivating, most insightfully uplifting calderdale industrial museum (with my P.A.), from the moment we arrived... and set foot within said museum in halifax out there... It felt like going back through time as walked up every floor, checking out each & every display of whom the calderdale industrial museum has to offer, It's the very first time visiting this captivating museum 'in-person' and my P.A's first visit as well... I also recommend this imposing museum to all with more than an interest in the history of halifax, the calder valley, and their industrial pasts through time, I'm also impressed with the fine range of displayed vintage old washer machines, tumble-dryers and other bathroom/kitchen machinery in-between, Also impressed by the quentessential quality street display - showcasing the history in quality street chocolates past & present, especially the recreated colourful wrappings & other wrappages too... not to mention the volunteer-run machinery below ground of whom under the main floor of the museum as well... the calderdale industrial museum is certainly - most definitely a one-of-a-kind museum next door to the nearby piece hall. I look forward to hopefully return/revisit this historically captivating museum of industrial history to behold, one day. Tip-TOP 60 out of 60.
What a wonderful place to visit! My 15-year-old son and I visited today (10/04/25) The volunteers were so knowledgeable, so helpful and it was so lovely to be shown around and to tell us what things did, and how things worked. We would recommend this museum for all ages. There is a café, which we didn't have time to go to this time, but hopefully in the future, the menu looked lovely and good pricing too. What a lovely morning we had. Thank you all so much xxx
Young or old you have to make time to go here.Go early to have a sporting chance to see it all. Great value for money and each and every volunteer we met was passionate informative and nice.Happy to tell you about what you have just looked at or seen demonstrated.People on reception spot in and the cafe was cosy clean value for money and good quality.Halifax itself has an abundance going for it, which as a Lancastrian is some admission. Fred Wilde Manchester(yeah I know it’s greater Manchester now not Lancashire)
Excellent museum - really interesting displays on historic local industries. Lovely friendly volunteers who are all very knowledgeable and I learned a lot. Definitely worth a visit - allow enough time too, you could probably spend a whole day here with all there is to see and do!
