Lovely ancient trackway. Approx 900 years old. It’s a sunken path through the woods connecting Halifax in the olden times. There are still the cobblestones visible in some sections. There’s a sign post at the top and an information board at the bottom that gives a good explanation of the history of the trackway.
A great and historic walk! Not accessible for prams as it’s muddy and uneven. Very interesting though and worth the walk if you are into history. I walked around Beacon Hill as well.
BE CAREFUL ! Would be a fab walk up to beacon hill if it wasn’t for the farm at the top who always let their stupid dogs out! Years ago it was two Alsatians that used to run loose and now it’s an English bulldog that bit someone recently!
Magical ancient Holloway, formed through wear and tear from horse and cart, and the old road from Halifax to Wakefield. Notably used by 'Gentleman Jack' Anne Lister of Shibden Hall during it's 600 year history!
A pleasant walk in a rainy but humid day🎈
