Lovely old historical landmark in the village of Southowram. They used to put criminals in these and throw rotten fruit at them. Their hands and feet would go through the holes. Nowadays they aren’t used much expect for tourists that drop litter in the village! These have a stone base with a matching wooden top piece with a metal pin to secure them shut.
