It a park to walk around it plenty of trees and paths to have a nice stroll. For children though it’s ridiculous the play area is like a box room so if you’re wanting for that no point unless they are toddlers. This is more of a heritage showing off park that you take a stroll around not a play park for children. The squirrels will love you if you have stuff for them and they will come up to you to get food they are not shy at all.
There are a lot of rats in the park. There are always teenagers standing around smoking weed, there is an unpleasant smell throughout the park. Ducks swim in dirty water, the duck pond is never cleaned, the fountain never works. The grass is dirty, there is dog shit on it. The park is very dirty, it's already spring, but autumn leaves from the trees are still lying in the park. The pond is dirty, there's an unpleasant smell, the ducks can't swim in this dirt, the water in the pond and in the fountain is not changed. And there's dog shit everywhere.
A beautiful Victorian Park, with a promenade, some Greek statues of Hercules and Venus. There's an interesting sundial with rather ominous Latin "Boast not thyself of tomorrow, for on thy eyelids is the shadow of death." Aside from the shadow of death, there are charming bridges over shallow duck ponds. I'm giving it 4 stars because the toilet is fairly grimey and a contrast to the elegance of the park - it's a shame people don't take better care of them. At least the council has some toilets in the park, I guess! Imagine how amazing it would be to restore the bath house down one end of the park! And the bandstand.

Visited here for the first time yesterday. Really nice park in general, pleasant walk around and a small playground for children. Although the park was nice, there was some unsavoury characters around. Had my partner not been with us, I wouldn’t have felt very safe on my own with my 3yo son.
